Data sharing
We share data only as needed to operate Cue. Service providers include Auth0 for authentication; Apple for sign-in, App Store subscriptions, and push notifications; Railway for application, database, cache, and job infrastructure; Cloudflare for delivery and email services; and OpenAI, a third-party AI service provider, for the optional AI features described below. We require service providers by contract and appropriate safeguards to protect personal data consistently with this policy and to provide the same or an equivalent level of protection. We do not sell personal information.
Optional AI processing by OpenAI
Cue uses the OpenAI API to provide optional Cue Coach, compatibility and fit insights, profile and match recommendations, message suggestions, preference-based personalization and memory learning, curation, and Dating Agent features. Before Cue sends personal data to OpenAI, the app identifies OpenAI as a third-party AI service provider, explains the data categories and purposes involved, and asks for your explicit permission. You can decline and continue using non-AI profile, standard Discover, matching, and chat features.
If you allow AI data sharing, Cue sends only information reasonably needed for the AI feature you request or enable. Depending on the feature, this can include profile details and photos you choose to add, dating and match preferences, chat messages, coach prompts, learned preference signals, and relevant match or conversation context. Cue does not send your password or full Apple payment information to OpenAI.
OpenAI processes this data only to provide the Cue features you allow: profile and match recommendations, compatibility analysis, coaching and conversation suggestions, preference-based personalization and memory learning, curation, and Dating Agent. OpenAI states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default unless an API customer explicitly opts in. OpenAI may retain API content in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days by default, subject to its legal and security obligations. Cue requests that Responses API application state not be stored, but abuse-monitoring retention may still apply.
You can turn OpenAI data sharing off at any time in Cue Settings. After you turn it off, Cue disables AI features and does not send new personal data to OpenAI unless you allow it again. Data already processed may remain with OpenAI for the limited retention period described above.
Retention
We retain data as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods may vary by data type.
If you delete your account in the app, we delete account data associated with the service experience, including profile, matching, chat, memory, and personalization records. Some records may be retained where needed for safety, fraud prevention, billing records, legal compliance, dispute resolution, security logs, or moderation audit trails. Content reports may be retained after an account is deleted so we can investigate abuse and protect users.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational controls to protect data, but no system is perfectly secure.
Your choices
- You can update account profile fields and settings inside the app.
- You can allow, decline, or later revoke OpenAI data sharing from the in-app permission screen and Settings.
- You can report or block users from chat and profile surfaces in the app.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID account settings.
- You can delete your account inside the app from Settings.
- You can request privacy or account-related support at the contact address below or through the support form.
Policy changes
We may update this policy over time. Continued use of the service after updates means you acknowledge the revised policy.
